Volunteer

INHALE Hamilton has come to an end, but we are still recruiting Community Air Trackers to help with our new Trees Please initiative.   During 2017 we are working in Hamilton's Crown Point and McQuesten neighbourhoods.  Community Air Trackers are ‘citizen scientists’ who monitor air quality in their neighbourhood with easy-to-use, compact air particulate monitoring equipment.

You can strap a monitor to your backpack, bike, baby stroller or walker and take it with you on your trips around the neighbourhood, collecting air quality data as you go! All of this data is analyzed and used to create the Fresh Air Finder online map and to inform community conversations about actions and change that can improve local air quality.  Through Trees Please, this data is being used to inform strategic tree planting in locations where there are high particulate levels combined with a poor urban forest canopy.  Trees capture fine, respirable particulate pollution helping to clear the air in urban neighbourhoods!

Send us an email at [email protected] if you'd like to volunteer!
